OVERALL PURPOSE

  • Support Alistair Logistics operations to ensure objectives are met at the required performance standard and in accordance with company behaviors and values.
  • Manage liabilities to ensure legislative compliance and best practices align with corporate objectives.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and relevant Tanzanian legislation.

ACCOUNTABILITY AND RESPONSIBILITY AREAS

  • Supervise the Port Team to meet set KPIs.
  • Conduct customs physical verifications at the port and other ICDs.
  • Address queries at TEAGTL, DP World, and ICDs in a timely manner.
  • Follow up on loading permits and ensure efficient truck loading at the port.
  • Facilitate port charges payments.
  • Coordinate with necessary agencies such as TBS and GCLA at the port.
  • Manage any emerging TEAGTL and DP World issues.
  • Obtain Delivery Orders from shipping lines.
  • Secure customs release for shipments.
  • Follow up on letters lodged with government agencies to ensure timely responses.

Actively support Alistair Group’s health, safety, and environmental policies and procedures.

FORMAL TRAINING

  • Diploma or Degree in Port Clearing is desired.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND EXPERIENCE

  • 3 years of port clearance experience.
  • Ability to maintain strong working relationships with stakeholders.
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Flexibility in work habits and schedules, willing to work extended hours when needed.
  • Knowledge of government procedures and customs laws for imports, exports, and transit goods via air, sea, and road freight.
  • High integrity, honesty, and confidentiality.
  • Fluent in English and Kiswahili.
