ASSOCIATEPROFESSOR/FULL PROFESSOR IN CORPORATE GOVERNANCE AND SUSTAINABILITY (1 POSITION) (renewable 5-year fixed term)
Wits Business School (WBS) invites applications for the position of Associate Professor/full Professor in Corporate Governance and Sustainability. The successful candidate will play a leading
role in supporting the work of the Wits Mervyn King Centre of Good Governance and Sustainability. Named in honour of Mervyn King, the Wits Mervyn King Centre of Good Governance
and Sustainability is dedicated to thought leadership, research, and executive engagement in integrated thinking, ethical leadership, ESG, and sustainable value creation.
The successful candidate will inter alia:
- Contribute to a high-impact, internationally recognised research agenda in governance and sustainability
- Publish in leading academic journals and contribute to global scholarly debates on corporate governance and sustainability
- Teach and supervise Masters and PhD research in governance, sustainability, and responsible leadership within Wits Business School programmes
- Engage with business, policymakers, regulators, and civil society to influence governance practice
- Assist in strengthening the visibility, and external partnerships of the Centre
Requirements:
- A PhD in governance, sustainability, business ethics, management, or a closely related field
- An internationally recognised research profile with publications in leading peer-reviewed journals and evidence of ongoing high-quality research
- Demonstrated experience in teaching, supervision and academic leadership in a post-graduate academic environment
- Evidence of impact in policy, practice, or executive education
- A commitment to bridging rigorous scholarship with real-world governance challenges
- Industry experience and teaching experience in an AACSB/EQUIS accredited business school will be advantageous.
- Experience engaging with boards, regulators, policy institutions, or international governance bodies will be advantageous.
